Please note that for production reasons the image is always exposed with a 3% overlap. Your image will, therefore, be enlarged by 3% when it is developed so that a minimal part of your image is cut off at the edges of the photo. In the Saal Design software and in our online shop, this area is displayed as a red line.
In both the Saal Design software and the online shop, you can choose between two different settings:
1. Standard mode (bleed)
Your image will be positioned over the entire area of the selected print format. If the aspect ratio of the subject differs from that of the photo print, parts of your subject will be removed by the new crop.
2. Custom mode (no bleed)/ White borders
If the individual mode has been selected, the software tries to display the complete image file on the output format (minus the production-related 3% margin at the edge of the print). The decisive factor is the longer side of the file, taking the aspect ratio into account. If you want to print your 2:3 image file on a 3:4 output format, white borders may appear at the top and bottom.
