Participation Conditions – Saal Digital European Photo Awards

1. Eligibility

The competition is open to all professional and hobby photographers aged 18 years and over.Participation is free of charge. A free Saal Digital customer account is required to submit entries.

2. Submission Requirements

  • Accepted file formats: JPG
  • Maximum file size: 15 MB per image
  • Participants may submit up to 5 photos in a single category or a total of 5 photos across multiple categories.
  • Submissions must be received no later than 31 October 2025.
  • Originality: Entries that have been submitted to other competitions are welcome.

3. Editing & Technical Restrictions

  • Only basic adjustments to framing, lighting, and color are permitted.
  • Photo montages or AI-generated images will not be permitted.

4. Copyright & Intellectual Property

Participants must own the copyright to their photos and be able to provide proof of ownership if requested. It is mandatory that the submitted image does not infringe any third-party copyright, trademark, contractual, or other intellectual property rights, nor violate any rights of privacy, publicity, and/or image of any individual.

By submitting a photo, the participant confirms that no personality rights of any depicted individuals have been infringed; and that any depicted persons have expressly and demonstrably given their consent to the publication of the photo.

5. Usage Rights

By entering the competition, participants grant Saal Digital the non-exclusive right to publish submitted images solely for purposes related to the competition, including but not limited to presentation on the competition website, social media channels, and at events, always with proper credit to the photographer. No other use will be made without explicit consent from the participant.

6. Non-Compliant Images

Saal Digital reserves the exclusive right to reject or refrain from publishing any images that do not meet the ethical or legal requirements set forth by the company or applicable laws and regulations.

7. Judging

  • Entries will be judged based on their aesthetic and conceptual value, as well as adherence to the chosen theme.
  • The judging panel will consist of internal employees of Saal Digital.
  • One category winner will be selected in each category, each receiving a €2,000 Saal Digital voucher.

8. Data Protection

By entering the competition, participants agree that their personal and image-related data will be stored and processed by the organizer in accordance with the applicable provisions of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for the purpose of operating the competition. Data will never be used for any other purpose, shared with third parties, or sold.

9. Risk Disclaimer

Participation and any movement in connection with the competition are at the participant’s own risk.

10. Legal Recourse

The decision of the organizer is final. No legal recourse is permitted.
